I have a strong passion for expressing creativity through art and design.
I believe my background in fine art and graphic design gives me a keen eye for composition and color. I am a detailed-oriented, communicative collaborator with exceptional writing skills. I quickly adapt to new design software and have developed a proficiency in wireframing and prototyping.
I have created material to reach a specific audience through my work in diversity awareness education. I have leveraged my understanding of the unique needs of multiple individuals to effectively engage volunteers. I am excited to merge my visual and design skills with my ability to be receptive to people’s needs and goals as I pursue a position in UI/UX Design.
In 2004, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico. During my studies, I also gained practical experience in graphic design while working for the College's Public Relations Department. After graduating, I worked in graphic design and art education in the Santa Fe and Denver areas.
After setting aside time to focus on starting a family, I wanted to stop piecing together part time work that didn’t ultimately make use of my core interests and skills. I decided to take courses in UI/UX Design through California Institute of the Arts and Design Lab to expand my expertise, build on my graphic design foundation, and stay competitive as the industry evolves. My interest was piqued at the integration of research based consideration of users’ needs and goals in both interaction and visual design of digital products.
I look forward to opportunities to work with a design team to create organized, intuitive solutions that improve everyday experiences. I'm excited to utilize my wide range of skills as I embark on the next chapter of my career journey.
